User Registration

【IC Card】
When you use the library, you need an IC card such as student card, ID card, or access card(J) issued by Tokyo Tech. Ask your department in charge for application and issuance of IC card. For those who do not own the card in spite of being affiliated with Tokyo Tech, we can issue a library card for you. Please bring an identification paper issued by Tokyo Tech to the circulation counter.

※Please let us know your user ID when you make inquiries or use library services. Your user ID is the same as your account ID for Tokyo Tech Portal. For those who have a library card, your ID is the number which is printed on the card.


【User Registration】
If you are not an undergraduate or graduate student, you need to register a user account.

  • ・Teaching staff who is eligible for public expense

    Please fill out "Application form for budget code registration," and submit it to the library counter with your ID card. You may also send it by email or internal mail.

  • ・Other users

    Please fill out "Application form for library services," and submit it to the library counter with your ID card, student card or access card. The form is accepted between 8:45am and 5:00pm on weekdays.

【Edit User Information】
The procedure varies depending on what you would like to edit.

    Please go to "TDL Online Request" and edit from "Your Profile."


  • ・Other Information

    Please submit "User Registration Form" above to the circulation counter again between 8:45am and 5:00pm on weekdays.

Use of Library Material

【Material Search】
Searches may be performed through OPAC.
When you search, please note the following.

  • ・The books indicated with "Checked out," "On the way," "Return," and "Keep" are not available.
  • ・When you search for serials, please check "Check-in List" and "Volumes."
  • ・The serials indicated with "in preparation" are in the process of binding and not available.
  • ・Please ask the circulation counter for closed stack material between 8:45am and 3:30pm on weekdays.

【Checkout, Return, Extension】

  • ・Checkout

    You can check out books either at the circulation counter or with self-checkout machines.
    You need your IC card (student card/ID card/access card) and your 6-digit PIN code for checkout. If you do not have an IC card, please ask for information at the circulation counter. Books and audio-visual materials can be checked out, but journals and reference books are restricted to in-library use. The number of items you can checkout depends on your status.

    • ・Return

      Please return checked out books at the circulation counter. If you miss the due date, you may not be able to checkout materials for the same number of days as the length of overdue period. You can return books at either Ookayama or Suzukakedai library. When the library is closed, please return books to the book post beside the entrance.


      You can check the due date from "TDL Online Request."

    • ・Extension

      You can extend the due date at the circulation counter or with self-checkout machines. You can extend the due date once per item through "TDL Online Request."

      The due date cannot be extended in the following cases.

      • ・You have overdue materials.
      • ・Your right for checkout has been suspended.
      • ・The item is requested by another user.


【Reservation】
You can reserve the book which has been checked out by another user. Please fill out "Book Reservation Form" and bring it to the circulation counter.
The limits of book reservation and ordering books from other campus are as follows.

Graduate/Faculty 10 books

If you are a campus member, you may also make a reservation through OPAC.


【Photocopy】

  • ・Using photocopier

    Photocopiers are available for copying library materials. When you use the photocopier, please fill out "Photocopy Request Form" and bring it to the circulation counter. Please make sure to follow the copyright law when you duplicate library materials.


    You may either pay at public or private expense for photocopy. (Monochrome / 10 yen, color / 50 yen) ※Receipts cannot be issued.
    If you wish to pay at public expense, please you the copy card issued by co-op.
    Please refer to "Floor map" to see the photocopier location.


    Attention: Copyright Law
    • ・The purpose of photocopy must be for your own research or study.
    • ・The number of pages you photocopy must be less than half of the entire book/journals.
    • ・If you wish to photocopy articles in a journal, the journal must be published for more than 3 months, or the next issue has been published.
    • ・You are entitled to a single copy for each material.

  • ・Other photocopy
    • For duplicating CD-ROM or E-Journals, please ask at the circulation counter.

Access to Library Materials

【Ordering books(on campus)】
You can order books from other campus library.

  • ・How to order

    After you confirm on OPAC that the material is not available on your campus, fill out "Intercampus Borrowing" and bring it to the circulation counter. You need to fill out a form for each material.
    The limits of ordering books from other campus and book reservation are as follows.

    Graduate/Faculty 10 books


  • ・Delivery Date

    Usually, the date of delivery is the next business day. If you order during weekends, the date of delivery will be in the following week.


  • ・Pick-Up

    We will reach you at the contact information (E-mail address or phone number) on the Intercampus Borrowing form. Please come to the circulation counter and pick up the material within a week.


If you are a campus member, you may order materials through OPAC.


【Ordering books(off campus)】
Even if you can't find the book you want in our library, you can borrow it from other libraries via our library.

  • ・How to order

    After you confirm on OPAC that the material is not available in Tokyo Tech, fill out "Interlibrary Loan Request Form (for books)" and submit it to the circulation counter. You need to fill out a form for each material. If you wish to order materials at public expense, you will need the registration and seal of the staff that is responsible for expenses, and the budget code.

    The policy varies with each library, but in most cases, rare books, reference books, large books, traditional Japanese binding books, new books, and serial publications such as newspapers and journals cannot be checked out.

  • ・Return

    Please return books directly to the circulation counter between 8:45 and 17:00. Do not return them to the book post.

【Ordering photocopies(on campus)】
You can order photocopies of materials such as articles from other campus library.

  • ・How to order

    After you confirm on OPAC that the material is not available on your campus, fill out "Interlibrary Loan Request Form (for ordering articles)" and submit it to the circulation counter. You need to fill out a form for each material. If you wish to pay at public expense, you will need the registration and seal of the staff that is responsible for expenses, and the budget code. You may also order photocopies from other campus library through "TDL Online Request."

  • ・Delivery date and charge

    Photocopies usually arrive on the next business day. If you order during weekends, they will arrive in the following week.

You can order the photocopies of materials such as articles that are not stocked in Tokyo Tech from other libraries.

【Visiting other libraries】
We issue a referral when it is required to visit other libraries. The condition of use differs with the types of institutions, so please check the detail on other library's website prior to your visit.

If you need a referral, please come to the circulation counter between 8:45 and 16:00 on weekdays. Inquiries must be made to other library in order to issue a referral, so the date of issuance is usually 2 days (excluding Saturdays, Sundays and holidays) after the application date. Please allow enough time for the application process.

You can visit the libraries which are affiliated with the following organizations depending on the application agreement. ※Suzukake Library is a member of the following organizations.

  • Kanagawa Library Association(J)  ※Eligibility: Staff members and graduate students of Suzukakedai campus.

    You can visit the affiliated libraries with the membership card (神奈川県内大学図書館共通閲覧証). If you wish to issue the membership card, please come to the circulation counter on the 1st floor of Suzukake Library between 8:45 and 17:00 on weekdays.

【Book Request】
We always accept your requests for book purchase. Please fill out "Book Purchase Request Form" and submit it to the circulation counter. The decision of purchase is made based on our policy that the materials will be used by many students for learning purposes for a long period of time.

Notice:

  • ・Recommendations should not include practical books (such as how-to books, examination question books), literature, and books which can be easily
     purchased by individuals.
  • ・Expensive books or multitude of requests for books in the same field may not be accepted.
  • ・You can request for book purchase only if Tokyo Tech Library doesn’t have the item.
  • ・It will take about a month for Japanese books, and longer for foreign books to be able to use them after we decide to purchase.
     If you want to use the book as soon as possible, please consider ordering books from off campus.
