What is the Peripatos Collection ?

In March 2007, the Peripatos Collection opened at Suzukakedai Library.
This collection, with more than 6,500 books, mainly consists of new novels, paperbacks, pocket editions, and travel guidebooks. We provide a relaxing and comfortable space to enjoy reading.

When the collection was set up, Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Science and Engineering supported with expenses and assistance to prepare the opening. Until 2015, it was supported by departments of Suzukakedai. In 2016, it was supported by the departments of the university. Now new books are bought by the discretionary expenses of the president.

It is hoped that the Peripatos Collection will help users acquire knowledge and culture, not only in the science and engineering field, but also in other various fields, and will allow users to relax in their spare time.

Meaning of the name

 gPeripatoshmeans promenade in Greek.
The schools established by Greek philosopher Aristotle had lots of promenades, and disciples of Aristotle used to lecture while walking at the peripatetic schools. Therefore, these gPeripatos Schoolshare also sometimes called gStrolling Schoolsh in Japanese. The Peripatos Collection is named after gPeripatos no Kento 21,h the name of the future plan for the Suzukakedai Campus.
