At Science Tokyo, research and educational outputs—such as academic papers published in scholarly journals, society journals, and conference proceedings, as well as research data and doctoral theses—are made publicly available through the Science Tokyo Repository (hereinafter referred to as “the Repository”).

Science Tokyo Repository

Eligible Users

Faculty members, staff, and students who are currently or were previously affiliated with Science Tokyo.

  • Materials eligible for publication in the Repository are works, such as papers and research data, that were generated through research and educational activities conducted at Science Tokyo.
  • For additional conditions, please refer to "東京科学大学機関リポジトリ運用要項" (currently under preparation).

For Repository Publication of Papers

Application for Registration in the Science Tokyo Institutional Repository (Papers)

  • If you wish to make academic papers—published in scholarly journals, society journals, conference proceedings, etc.—available in the Repository, please apply via the form above.
    • Login to the Science Tokyo Portal and Microsoft services is required. On the Microsoft authentication screen, please use your ~@m.isct.ac.jp email address.
    • If there are co-authors, please obtain their consent before applying.
    • If you are unable to use the form, please contact the inquiry desk below.
  • After reviewing your application, the paper will be registered and made available. Please note the following:
    • Depending on the publisher’s policy, publication may not be permitted.
    • An embargo period may be required before public release.
    • Specific licensing conditions may be applied.
  • Regarding Open Access (OA), in addition to making your work available via the Repository (Green OA), there is also the option of paying an Article Processing Charge (APC) to the publisher to make the paper open access (Gold OA).
    At Science Tokyo, APC discounts may be available for journals from certain publishers and academic societies. For details, please refer to: Open Access Publishing Discount
  • To comply with Japan’s immediate open access policy, articles that are already openly accessible through electronic journals or other platforms do not need to be deposited in an institutional repository.

  • When making an article that is not open access publicly available through a repository, the version generally permitted for deposit is the author’s accepted manuscript (Accepted Manuscript: AM).
