According to the Tokyo Tech policy against COVID-19, non-campus member can use Tokyo Tech Library by the application advance from Monday, May 9, 2022.


The conditions of use have changed since October 17, 2022.

  • The deadline for application advance has been changed to two days (excluding Weekends, holidays and library closed days) prior to use.

  • The library is now available for use after 5 p.m. on weekdays and during the library's opening hours, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

  • There is no upper limit to the length of stay.

You can order Tokyo Tech Library books through your institute's library or also order through a public library. Please contact your local public library.

Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery

  • Available during the library hours (including after 5p.m. and Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays).

  • Please complete the application form at least 2 days prior to your visit (excluding Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and days the library is closed).

   For example, if you wish to use the library on Monday, October 24, please submit your application by Thursday October 20.


Please refrain use the Ookayama Library on exam week.

1. Apply through the web application form (phone or email applications are not accepted).

2. After your application is complete, you will receive an auto-reply e-mail to confirm your acceptance. Additional e-mail may be sent if the contents are incomplete or require confirmation. If you do not receive an auto-reply e-mail, please notify us at the contact information at the bottom of this page.

[Application advance and Visitor Use]

  • No pre-applications by phone or email will be accepted.

  • Visitors who have not applied in advance will not be admitted.

  • If you want to borrow books of Tokyo Tech Library, please order through your institute's library or also order through a public library.  → Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery

  • Please be sure to decide what materials you wish to use before applying to enter the library. Please refrain from visiting the library for materials that are available at nearby public libraries.
  • We do not keep materials that you have applied to use. When you come to the library, there is a possibility that the materials may have been borrowed by someone else. Please be aware of this. [October 17, 2022]

  • We do not extend the borrowing card  and library card.
  • If you need to cancel your visit, please contact us at the bottom of this page. If you wish to change the date of your visit, please cancel your visit and resubmit a new application . [October 17, 2022]

We ask your cooperation as follows;

  • Please clean your hands by washing and disinfecting before and after entering the library and using the materials.

  • Please wear a mask In the library,
  • Please refrain from conversation.
  • Please keep the distance, about 2 meters(6 feet), from other users.
  • Please refrain from visiting the library when you are not feeling well (e.g., fever over 37.5°C, cough, throat discomfort, etc.).
  • If you are infected with COVID-19 within 2 days of using the library, please contact us by Ask Online.

Our library is open to the public, but only for those who need our library materials for the purpose of academic research and study or are not  insufficient by Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery.

  • All library users are required to observe the library rules and policies.
  • Please check our Library's online catalog in advance and make sure that our Library holds the materials you want.
  • You can not enter the library only for the purpose of using the library facilities.
  • Tokyo Tech members have priority use of the library materials.

Available Services

1. Browsing library materials

  • If the material is located in "Stack Room" or "Counter", you have to make an application for use at the counter.
  • The e-journals are available on dedicated computers in the library from 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. Please come to the counter until 4:30 p.m..

2.Use of electronic resources  [Application Time: until 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, Availability: until 5 p.m. on weekdays]

  • You can browse electronic materials from dedicated terminals in the library within the scope of contract. The number of terminals is 2 in Ookayama and 1 in Suzukakedai.

  • The standard usage time is 30 minutes. Please use the terminals by sharing other users.

  • Not available after 5 p.m. on weekdays and on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

  • Printing is available (monochrome: 40 yen/sheet, color: 80 yen/sheet)

  • Not provided in PDF file.

3. Copying library materials

  • Photocopiers are available for copying library materials. For more information, please check  Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery.
  • All library users must comply with the Copyright Law of Japan.
  • There are coin-operated machines, so please prepare small money. We do not make change.
  • When you want to use it, please proceed to the counter until until 4:30 p.m..
  • Receipts can be output from the coin-operated copy machine.

4. Borrowing books

  • You may apply for the library card if you need to borrow books regularly.
