[For Medical/Dental Members] User Guide about Ookayama & Suzukakedai Library

• Campus Card and Access Card Holders: Touch the gate sensor with your card one by one to open the gate. 
• Those without a Campus Card and Access Card: Please present your Photo ID (staff IC card or student IC card) at the circulation counter.
  • Until the authentication system is integrated, the gate will not open with the card issued by the medical/dental administration.
• Besides a Photo ID, you can enter the Libraries with

  a library card issued by Ookayama Library or Suzukakedai Library (hereinafter referred to as "Science and Engineering fields library card"). Please present it at the circulation counter.

• Campus Card and Access Card Holders: Application for a Science and Engineering fields library card is not required.
• Those without a Campus Card and Access Card:  If you need to borrow books, please apply for a Science and Engineering fields library card. When applying, present your Photo ID and fill in a designated form.

Hours for Application at the circulation counter & When to be Issued

• 8:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on weekdays: approximately 30 min
• after 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and on weekends and public holidays: afternoon of the next business weekday
• Even after applying, you cannot borrow any books until you receive your Science and Engineering fields library card.

Prior application via email

If you wish to apply in advance, please use the Ask Service and include the name of the library where you would like to receive your Science and Engineering fields library card (Ookayama Library or Suzukakedai Library). We will send instructions on how to apply to the email address you provide.

• The procedure may take about 2–3 open weekdays. We will contact you once your Science and Engineering fields library card is ready.
• If you apply in advance, you can pick up your Science and Engineering fields library card during opening hours (including after 4:30 p.m. on weekdays and on weekends and public holidays) and borrow books on the same day.

• Checkout:

  • Campus Card and Access Card Holders: You can borrow with your own card. Self-checkout machines are also available.
  • Those without a Campus Card and Access Card: The Science and Engineering fields library card is required. For loan conditions, please refer to Checkout, Renewal, Return.
  • Books held by Institute of Science Tokyo Library can be requested (borrowed) at four libraries: Ookayama Library, Ochanomizu Library, Konodai Library, Suzukakedai Library.  Please refer to this page.

• Return:

  • Please return (directly) to the Ookayama/Ochanomizu/Konodai/Suzukakedai Library. Please refer to this page.

• Renewal:

  • Campus Card and Access Card Holders: You can extend the due date either through the Online Request or at the circulation counter of Ookayama Library or Suzukakedai Library. (Extensions via Online request can be made up to three times.)

  • Those without a Campus Card and Access Card: You can extend the due date either through the Ask Service or at the circulation counters of Ookayama Library or Suzukakedai Library.

    • During the loan period, please apply for a loan extension through the Ask Service of Ookayama Library or Suzukakedai Library. You may renew your loan up to three times.
    • User ID: The User ID printed on your Science and Engineering fields library card
      Subject: Request for Loan Extension
      Comments: Please include the "Loan BookID" of the item you wish to renew and state that you wish to extend the loan period.
    • If you prefer to complete the procedure in person, please bring your Science and Engineering fields library card and the books you have borrowed to the circulation counter at the Ookayama Library or Suzukakedai Library.
  • Renewal procedures for books from Ochanomizu Library and Konodai Library cannot be completed at Ookayama Library or Suzukakedai Library. Please refer to this page.

Through the Library Catalog: Please note that you can receive books only at the Ookayama Library, Konodai Library, and Suzukakedai Library. Please refer to "Reservation/Intercampus Borrowing".

The PCs for e-resources and printing are available from 8:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays only. Please come to the circulation counter to use by 4:30 p.m.
